Dad’s survival kit

Being a father comes with a lot of responsibility. Many situations can be easier to deal with if you use a little foresight and preparation. The following items should be in every dad’s possession when he leaves the house, even for short trips. If you don’t want to carry a diaper bag everywhere, most of these items fit comfortably in jacket pockets.

Extra diaper(s): Always have a spare. The minute you don’t, you will realize you need one.

Pen and pocket notebook: You will start forgetting things as soon as you have children. If something is important, write it down.

Wipes: Get pocket packs for cleaning up messes or keep them in a Ziploc baggie. Plan on using a lot of these.

Hand sanitizer: Even if you have never used it before, you will be a convert after changing a few diapers.

Tissues: To dry tears and the inevitable mucus.

Healthy snack: Nothing is harder to deal with than a hungry toddler. Make sure that you have a small snack on hand for those times when you can’t get to a scheduled meal. Snacks will buy you the time you need to get to your destination for a healthy meal.
